Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, moments before initiating the dissolution of the National Assembly, revealed his plan to auction all the gifts he received at Toshakhana during his tenure to support orphaned children. He made this announcement while meeting with representatives from the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), and the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA).
“I am pleased to announce that I will be auctioning all the valuable gifts accumulated at the Toshakhana. The proceeds from this auction will be dedicated exclusively to institutions caring for orphaned children, including welfare organizations, schools, and medical facilities. This initiative aims to provide much-needed support to vulnerable orphans as they navigate life’s challenges,” stated the prime minister.
He acknowledged the economic challenges faced by his government, inherited from the previous administration. PM Shehbaz noted that his coalition government was confronted with an unforeseen severity of the situation. He expressed disappointment over the previous government’s prioritization of political vendettas and strained international relations, particularly with friendly nations.
PM Shehbaz underscored his government’s efforts to repair relations with friendly countries, which contributed to the successful negotiation of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He urged national unity and emphasized the importance of hard work in eliminating the country’s debt burden, aspiring to elevate Pakistan to a position of greatness.
Regarding allegations of political victimization, the prime minister asserted that his administration remained preoccupied with tackling pressing issues such as floods, inflation, economic stabilization, IMF negotiations, wheat imports, and foreign policy concerns.
He stressed the complexities of rectifying societal damage caused by the previous government, and highlighted the significance of the IMF agreement in preventing a default scenario that could have led to fuel shortages and civil unrest.
PM Shehbaz outlined a future course of action, emphasizing the need for self-sufficiency and the pursuit of economic recovery. He highlighted the potential of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a transformative tool, with the aim of attracting foreign investment. He believed that the SIFC held the key to economic revitalization.

As he prepared to initiate the dissolution of the National Assembly, PM Shehbaz expressed his optimism that the next government would continue the SIFC’s vision and work towards freeing the country from debt within a span of 5-10 years.
Following the dissolution, the responsibility for the electoral process would be transferred to the chief election commissioner, who would determine the next steps towards shaping the country’s democratic future.
