Commitment to Strengthen the Police Force
PM Shehbaz Sharif made a firm commitment to enhance the skills and capacity of the police force, regardless of economic constraints. He assured that all recommendations for strengthening the police force would be implemented. In addition, the Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the interior minister and called for the immediate establishment of the Dolphin force in Islamabad, based on the successful model implemented in the Punjab province with the assistance of Turkiye.
Unveiling of Projects
During the ceremony, PM Shehbaz Sharif also unveiled plaques for Dolphin and SPU Headquarters, as well as an educational institute for the families of the police force. These projects aim to provide the police force and their families with the latest health and educational facilities, which have been long overdue.
Emphasis on Meritocracy
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of merit-based inductions in various sectors of society. He mentioned that approximately 2000 jawans were inducted into the police force on merit, setting a standard that should be emulated across the nation. PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that meritocracy should prevail at all levels, enabling the nation to progress while eliminating corruption and favoritism that plagued the previous government’s tenure.
Interior Minister’s Efforts
Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah also addressed the gathering and acknowledged the prompt attention given by the present government to address the issues faced by the Capital Police. He mentioned that arrears amounting to over Rs1 billion were paid to the families of Shuhada within three days, under the direction of the Prime Minister. Rana Sanaullah further stated that deserving children of deceased police personnel were provided jobs based on merit. Additionally, salaries of the Islamabad Capital Territory Police were made equivalent to those of the Punjab police.
Future Plans for Enhanced Security
The special protection unit, the anti-terrorism force, and the Dolphin force will soon be active in Islamabad, according to Minister Rana Sanaullah. These security units will play a crucial role in maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of the residents of the Capital city.
Resilience of the Police Force
Rana Sanaullah also commended the police force for their bravery and resilience in the face of an attack on the monuments of Shuhada by a political party on May 9. Despite the assault, the police force valiantly protected the Capital city, earning the admiration and support of the entire nation.
