PM Shahbaz criticises judiciary for providing ‘extraordinary relief’ to Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: In a cabinet meeting held in Islamabad on Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his disappointment towards the judiciary’s ‘biased attitude’ towards Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. The prime minister criticised the judiciary for protecting Imran Khan, like an “iron shield” and giving him “extraordinary relief” in corruption cases, while other political leaders faced trials and tough handling.

PM Shahbaz also raised questions over the treatment of other politicians in the country, saying that stating that several politicians were sent behind the bars in fake cases. However, the courts did not take notice of it. He expressed his shock at Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial’s remarks during yesterday’s hearing where he said that he was pleased to meet the former prime minister.

The Prime Minister accused the judiciary of having double standards of justice and pointed out that thousands of cases by the general public were pending with the courts while some political figures were especially receiving bail on a priority basis.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has poisoned the entire country with its history of cases, from industries and educational establishments to religious institutions. He criticized the PTI Chairman for being part of an agenda to bring fascist rule to the country for ten years.

The Prime Minister also criticized Imran Khan for his false and shameless claims about his ouster from the rule through “regime change” by the United States. He maintained that the coalition govt made sincere efforts to mend diplomatic ties with the US, while holding Imran Khan responsible for creating rift with the US.

The Prime Minister lamented that Pakistan was going through a difficult time, and the coalition government was making efforts to address the inherited challenges. He also lambasted the PTI for pushing the country towards the brink of a dangerous situation and promoting hatred and intolerance.

The prime minister criticized the judiciary’s biased attitude towards Imran Khan and expressed his disappointment towards the double standards of justice. He called for the rule of law to be ensured in Pakistan and for equal treatment of all politicians in the country. The Prime Minister also highlighted the efforts of the coalition government to address the inherited challenges and promote peace and stability in Pakistan.
