PM pays tribute to framers of Constitution of 1973

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday paid tribute to those who introduced the Constitution of 1973 and paid homage to them.

The PM acknowledged that the nation is currently celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1973 Constitution, which is a sacred text that has endured many difficulties throughout the previous half-century and has held the federation together.

According to the Prime Minister, the regulations established in accordance with the Constitution provide us with a roadmap for the future.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan remained the fundamental in defining the national character, identity, and future path. He also stated that the time arrived to establish Parliament at the heart of national life, both in word and in deed.

The remarks came at the moment when the government is marking a month long celebrations in the honor of the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution, a significant document that established the groundwork for a democratic and progressive society in Pakistan.

National Assembly speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf launched the festivities by laying the foundation stone for the Constitution Monument at a location across from the Parliamentary Lodges in D-Chowk, Islamabad.

After it, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Memorial of the Unsung Heroes of Democracy in Parliament House to pay tribute to those who fought for democracy and constitutionalism in Pakistan.

In their congratulatory messages on the 50th anniversary of the 1973 Constitution, both the National Assembly Speaker, Raja Pervez Ashraf, and Deputy Speaker, Zahid Akram Durrani, emphasized the importance of upholding the supremacy of the Constitution to strengthen democracy in the country. They added that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees fundamental rights to all citizens.

In his message, the NA speaker credited this achievement to the great efforts and wisdom of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, which brought all political parties together to sign this historic document.

The deputy speaker also called on the all political parties to set aside their differences and sit together to address the issues of the country for its prosperity and development.
