Pakistani Youth Converts Car into Smartphone-Driven Vehicle, Plans AI Upgrade

KARACHI – In a groundbreaking innovation, a Pakistani youth converts car into smartphone-driven vehicle, sparking excitement across the country and beyond. The young inventor, Muhammad Subhan from Taxila, has transformed a manual 1000cc car into a smartphone-controlled machine and now plans to upgrade it into an AI-powered self-driving car designed to assist specially-abled individuals.

Sharing details on morning show, Subhan explained that his car can be operated through a mobile app already available on the Google Play Store. He designed and installed the custom-made kit within three months, enabling full smartphone control over the car’s steering, accelerator, brakes, and clutch — essentially giving the driver remote control over all critical functions.

At present, the project remains in its early stages. Subhan admitted that the system does not yet include advanced sensors, limiting its use to parking and simple maneuvering. “My main aim is to help disabled persons so they can drive a car using only their hands,” he said, highlighting the humanitarian vision behind his innovation.

While the clutch can be controlled through the app, the gear still requires manual shifting. “Right now, the gear is not automated. We shift the gear manually, release the clutch with the phone, and continue driving,” Subhan explained. Importantly, the car still retains its manual driving option. With just the press of a button, the vehicle can switch between manual and smartphone-driven mode, offering flexibility to users.

Looking ahead, Subhan’s ambitions are nothing short of revolutionary. He plans to incorporate artificial intelligence into the system, envisioning a future where a driver could simply say, “Take me to Lahore or Rawalpindi”, and the car would drive autonomously to the destination.

Subhan, who holds a diploma in mechanical studies, revealed that he draws inspiration from tech mogul Elon Musk and dreams of competing with him one day. His project reflects the untapped talent and creativity among Pakistani youth, proving that innovation is not limited to Silicon Valley.

Experts believe that if given proper funding and support, Subhan’s innovation could pave the way for affordable AI-powered mobility solutions in Pakistan, especially for disabled drivers who often struggle with accessibility.

The story of how a Pakistani youth converts car into smartphone-driven vehicle has already captured global attention and may signal the start of a new wave of local innovation in the country’s automotive and tech industries.
