Pakistan to attend first Gaza Board of Peace meeting chaired by President Trump: sources

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has formally decided to participate in the first meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace, scheduled for February 19, sources confirmed on Saturday.

According to sources, the high-level meeting will be chaired by US President Donald Trump and will focus on the rapidly evolving situation in Gaza. Pakistan will be represented either by the Prime Minister or the Deputy Prime Minister, who will attend the session on the country’s behalf.

The meeting is expected to deliberate on measures aimed at promoting peace, stability and humanitarian relief in Gaza, amid ongoing regional tensions. Participants will also discuss possible future strategies and a broader framework to address humanitarian, political and security challenges linked to the crisis.

Sources said Pakistan’s decision to formally join the meeting reflects its continued engagement in international diplomatic efforts and its longstanding position on regional peace, justice and humanitarian concerns.

Officials believe Pakistan’s participation will provide an opportunity to present its perspective on the Gaza situation and contribute to coordinated global dialogue on conflict resolution and post-conflict reconstruction.

While details regarding the full agenda and participating delegations have not yet been disclosed, the gathering is being viewed as a key platform for consultations on long-term stability and peace-building efforts in the region.

Earlier, on February 7, 2026, Axios reported that the White House was planning the first leaders’ meeting of President Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace” on Gaza for February 19. The report said the initiative would also include discussions related to fundraising for Gaza’s reconstruction, though planning was still at an early stage and subject to change.

The meeting is expected to be held at the US Institute of Peace in Washington. According to the report, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet President Trump at the White House on February 18, a day ahead of the Board of Peace session.

At the time, the White House and the US State Department did not respond to media requests for comment. Further announcements regarding Pakistan’s official representation and the outcomes of the meeting are expected closer to the date.
