Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Sign Landmark Joint Defence Pact: “An Attack on One, is an Attack on Both”

RIYADH: In a historic move, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday signed a landmark Joint Defence Pact, declaring that “any attack on one country will be considered an attack on both.”

The agreement, finalized during Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s ongoing state visit to the Kingdom, marks a major step toward enhancing security cooperation and strengthening regional stability. The pact underscores the long-standing bond between the two nations, built on decades of trust, brotherhood, and shared strategic interests.

According to an official statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, the agreement aims to boost defense collaboration, improve joint deterrence, and send a strong message of unity against external aggression. Both governments emphasized that this deal is not only a bilateral security framework but also a broader commitment to maintaining peace across the Middle East and the Islamic world.

The announcement came following an official signing ceremony at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, where Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud warmly welcomed PM Shehbaz Sharif.

During their high-level talks, both leaders reviewed the deep-rooted strategic partnership, spanning nearly eight decades, and explored avenues to expand cooperation in defense, trade, and investment. PM Shehbaz extended his heartfelt greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and conveyed Pakistan’s gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s continued support in critical times.

The Pakistani premier expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation, while reaffirming Islamabad’s unwavering commitment to the security and prosperity of Saudi Arabia.

On his part, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman praised Pakistan’s enduring friendship and reiterated Riyadh’s pledge to stand by Pakistan in all circumstances. Both leaders agreed that the pact reflects a shared vision for stability, peace, and progress in the region.

The Joint Defence Pact is being viewed by analysts as a significant development in regional geopolitics, sending a clear warning to aggressors: “strike one, face both.”

With this agreement, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have not only reinforced their military ties but also reaffirmed their role as pillars of strength for the Muslim world, promising to uphold peace and collective security at all costs.
