Youm-e-Istehsal 2025:
On August 5, 2025, Pakistan is solemnly observing Youm-e-Istehsal to express unwavering solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). This day marks six years since India’s controversial and unilateral move to revoke Article 370 of its constitution, stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special autonomous status. The decision, made on August 5, 2019, has been widely condemned by Pakistan, the people of Kashmir, and numerous international human rights bodies as a violation of international law and the UN Security Council resolutions.
The observance of Youm-e-Istehsal 2025 is being carried out nationwide with special events, rallies, and awareness campaigns. In Islamabad, a large rally commenced from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and proceeded towards D-Chowk. The rally was attended by senior government officials, political leaders, and civil society members. At exactly 10:00 AM, a one-minute silence was observed throughout the country to honor the sacrifices of Kashmiris and to protest Indian actions in the region.
Special events and solidarity walks are also being held across Pakistan’s four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Pakistani diplomatic missions abroad have organized seminars, exhibitions, and peaceful demonstrations to highlight the issue of Kashmir and India’s ongoing military occupation of the region.
Media outlets are running special transmissions and documentaries showcasing the resistance of the Kashmiri people, the historical context of the dispute, and the voices of Kashmiri leaders who have led the freedom struggle. These broadcasts serve as a reminder of the harsh realities faced by Kashmiris under Indian rule, including military curfews, communication blackouts, extrajudicial killings, and mass detentions.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a strong statement, confirmed that Pakistan’s military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Naval Staff, and Chief of Air Staff, stands united in expressing unwavering support for the people of IIOJK. The statement reaffirmed that Pakistan remains committed to the just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
This year’s Youm-e-Istehsal also carries a renewed call to the international community, urging them to hold India accountable for human rights violations in Kashmir and to push for an end to the illegal occupation. The government of Pakistan has reiterated that peace in South Asia is not possible without a fair and lasting solution to the Kashmir conflict.
Youm-e-Istehsal 2025 serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people. It also highlights the resilience of the Kashmiri struggle, which continues despite decades of oppression. The observance reinforces Pakistan’s position that the future of Jammu and Kashmir must be decided through a plebiscite as promised under international agreements and UN mandates.
