The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has chosen Ali Khurshidi as its candidate for the Sindh chief minister’s position, according to the party’s spokesperson on Sunday. Khurshidi, who won from Karachi’s PS-119 constituency with 22,424 votes, previously served as a provincial legislator from 2018 to 2023.
He will be competing against Murad Ali Shah, the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) chief ministerial candidate, who is in a strong position for his third term as the province’s chief executive.
In the recent election, PPP’s Awais Qadir Shah secured 111 votes, defeating MQM-P’s Sofia Saeed Shah, who received 36 votes. Additionally, MQM-P has nominated Rashid Khan for the position of deputy speaker, competing against PPP’s Anthony Naveed.
