Mobile app launched for birth death marriage registration in Sindh

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday launched a new Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) mobile application, introducing a fully digital and paperless mechanism for the registration of births, deaths, marriages and divorces across the province. The initiative marks a significant step towards modernising administrative services through the broader Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (E-CRVS) system, which has been approved at a cost of Rs471.254 million.

Speaking at the inauguration, the chief minister said the new application would be operational throughout 30 districts and 769 health facilities, with the provincial government targeting the digital registration of 85 per cent of births taking place in both public and private hospitals. He emphasised that the system would not only streamline civil documentation but would also link immunisation records, disease surveillance data and patient identity management, enabling a more coordinated and reliable health and population database.

Murad Ali Shah said the move represented a shift from decades of paper-based processes to an integrated digital framework aimed at ensuring transparency, accuracy and convenience for citizens. He added that the app was expected to reduce long queues at government offices, minimise paperwork and eliminate lengthy delays associated with manual registration procedures. The platform, he said, would especially benefit residents of remote and marginalised areas who face difficulty accessing registration offices.

Developed in collaboration with NADRA, the CRMS mobile application will serve as a central, single-source digital record integrated with provincial databases. Officials said the system would help the government maintain precise population data, support health initiatives and improve governance outcomes through reliable, real-time information.
