ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a nationwide alert for heavy rainfall expected from July 21 to July 25, warning of urban flooding, flash floods, and potential landslides across several regions.

The strong monsoon spell is set to impact Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), northeastern Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, and Azad Kashmir.


Areas at Risk of Flooding and Submersion

The PMD highlighted that low-lying areas in key urban zones could face urban flooding, especially in:

  • Islamabad / Rawalpindi
  • Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Faisalabad
  • Okara, Sargodha, Nowshera, Peshawar

Landslide Threat in Northern Areas

The Meteorological Department also warned of landslide risks in hilly and mountainous regions, particularly:

  • Galliyat
  • Azad Kashmir
  • Gilgit-Baltistan
  • Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Commuters and tourists planning to visit these scenic areas have been advised to defer travel during the forecast period due to possible road blockages and hazardous conditions.

  • Khairpur: 14mm
  • Sukkur: 13mm
  • Rohri: 12mm
  • Thatta: 07mm

KP and Balochistan:

  • Balakot (KP): 54mm
  • Islamabad (Saidpur): 40mm
  • Kotli (AJK): 06mm
