Matthew Perry’s ex-girlfriend and former assistant, Kayti Edwards, recently raised doubts about the cause of his death. She revealed that the late actor had a deep fear of needles, which contradicts reports that Perry was injected with drugs at least 21 times during the last week of his life.
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, the 47-year-old shared, “This is what’s strange to me… Matthew always, always told me he would never use needles or inject anything into his body. He didn’t even want tattoos.”
Edwards added, “I would often see him very high and using all kinds of drugs. I’d get so scared and tell him he had to stop mixing all this stuff, saying, ‘You’re going to die.’ But he would reply, ‘You only die when you use needles… and I would never, ever, ever do that.’”
Kayti Edwards worked as Perry’s assistant in 2011 and dated the Friends star back in 2006. Despite their romantic relationship ending, they remained close friends.
