Maryam Nawaz flood rehabilitation of Rs100bn
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday launched a massive flood rehabilitation drive under which Rs100 billion will be distributed among families affected by the recent floods across multiple districts of Punjab. Addressing a gathering in Dipalpur, Okara, the chief minister said that this initiative marked the beginning of one of the largest relief and compensation programmes in Punjab’s history. “We are distributing the first cheques today,” she announced as she handed out relief cards to victims who have lost homes, crops, and livelihoods due to the floods.
Maryam Nawaz said the Maryam Nawaz flood rehabilitation programme would cover 15 districts including Okara, Jhang, Multan, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, Sahiwal, Lodhran, Bahawalnagar, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Vehari, Kasur, Narowal, and Gujranwala. She noted that 70 per cent of the survey to assess losses had already been completed and that compensation distribution was now underway. Calling it the “most transparent survey in Punjab’s history,” the CM stressed that the process was funded entirely through Punjab’s own financial resources, without seeking external aid.
“I did not ask for assistance from the rest of the world, I did not ask anyone for help,” Maryam Nawaz said while addressing the attendees, adding that by relying solely on provincial resources, the government had ensured the dignity and self-respect of the people of Punjab. She reiterated that not a single rupee of the Rs100 billion fund would be misused. “I have blocked all means of corruption. Every rupee of this amount will reach the flood victims,” she asserted.
The chief minister highlighted that the initiative was a reflection of her government’s commitment to rebuilding flood-affected areas and restoring normal life for thousands of families. “This is not charity, this is the right of every affected family. We are with our people in every hardship,” she said. Officials present at the event confirmed that digital records and transparent verification systems have been set up to ensure fair distribution through relief cards, which will allow affected individuals to withdraw funds without long queues or delays.

The Punjab government flood compensation initiative has been widely appreciated for its scope and transparency. Political observers say this move strengthens Maryam Nawaz’s image as a proactive and people-focused leader, determined to bring governance reforms and accountability to public welfare schemes. The Punjab flood relief 2025 programme will continue in phases, with the next round of disbursements planned for south Punjab districts hit hardest by the floods.
Government sources confirmed that local administrations are coordinating with NADRA to cross-check identities of recipients to avoid duplication. The Maryam Nawaz flood rehabilitation effort is also expected to provide long-term economic recovery support through small business grants and agricultural aid for farmers who lost their crops.
The launch of this Rs100bn initiative marks a significant milestone in Punjab’s flood response strategy, focusing on sustainable rehabilitation rather than temporary relief. Maryam Nawaz concluded her speech by reaffirming her government’s commitment to rebuilding with integrity and transparency. “We will rebuild Punjab with pride, honesty, and compassion,” she said, as thousands of flood victims applauded the government’s resolve to stand by them in their most difficult time.
