M-1 Motorway Accident Near Swabi Interchange Leaves Two Dead, 10 Injured
SWABI: At least two people were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident on the M-1 Islamabad–Peshawar Motorway near the Swabi Interchange on Tuesday, rescue officials said.
According to Rescue 1122 Swabi, the accident occurred when a trailer lost control and overturned, blocking the motorway and causing multiple vehicles to collide with each other.
One person died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries after being shifted to the hospital, authorities confirmed.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched immediate relief and rescue operations. The injured were shifted to Bacha Khan Hospital, Swabi, where hospital authorities declared an emergency to provide prompt medical treatment.
Medical officials said that five of the injured were reported to be in critical condition, while others were receiving treatment for multiple injuries.
The accident caused severe traffic disruption on the motorway, with traffic remaining suspended for several hours. Authorities later cleared the road after removing the damaged vehicles, allowing traffic to resume.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
