Lahore couple becomes first Pakistani duo to summit Mt Manaslu

Lahore, Pakistan – In a remarkable achievement that has filled Pakistan with pride, a Lahore-based couple, Ahmed Uzair and Anum Uzair, has become the first pair from Pakistan to successfully summit Mount Manaslu. This awe-inspiring feat was accomplished on Sunday on the slopes of the world’s eighth-highest peak, nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Nepal.

Assisted by a team of three skilled sherpas, the couple managed to scale the towering summit of Mount Manaslu, which stands majestically at an astonishing height of 8,163 meters. The mountaineering company that organized and guided the expedition expressed their elation at this momentous accomplishment.

Karrar Haidri, the Secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, voiced the sentiments of the nation, saying, “Pakistan feels proud of this outstanding achievement.” This ascent has not only made history but also showcased the indomitable spirit of Pakistani adventurers.

The news of this triumph resonated far and wide, even reaching the ears of Shehroze Kashif, the daring mountaineer who recently conquered the “true summit” of Mount Manaslu himself. He congratulated the Lahore couple on their historic achievement, saying, “Anum and Uzair, you did it. What a piece of news to wake up to! It’s truly an outstanding achievement.”

What makes this achievement even more impressive is the everyday lives the couple leads. Anum is a dedicated forensic scientist, while Ahmed is a practicing barrister. Remarkably, they also manage to balance their adventurous spirits with the responsibilities of parenthood, being parents to two children.

This triumph follows closely on the heels of another remarkable achievement by Pakistani climbers. Just a few days ago, Naila Kiani and Sirbaz Khan successfully conquered the challenging Manaslu peak as well. In doing so, Naila Kiani earned the distinction of becoming the first Pakistani woman to summit nine out of the 14 highest mountains in the world, solidifying her status as a trailblazing figure in Pakistan’s mountaineering history.

As Ahmed and Anum Uzair and Naila Kiani continue to inspire us with their feats, they remind us that the human spirit knows no bounds when it comes to conquering the highest peaks and achieving the extraordinary. Pakistan stands tall, basking in the glory of these remarkable achievements on the world’s highest summits.
