With Eid-ul-Azha only five days away, the purchases of sacrificial animals have picked up at the Karachi Northern Bypass cattle market. Buyers mentioned that the prices of sacrificial animals have slightly decreased. Over 80,000 animals have been sold in the market so far.
Many buyers noted that the prices have decreased by about five percent compared to earlier days. Recently, a tourist family from Poland visited the Northern Bypass Cattle Market and expressed their surprise.
The central cattle market for sacrificial animals in Karachi has been running since May 10, 2024, at Taiser Town Northern Bypass Karachi. Local authorities promise to provide facilities for buyers and traders in the cattle market, including establishing food courts and ATMs. There will also be designated parking areas for customers. Law enforcement agencies will ensure strict security measures by setting up police pickets.
It’s worth mentioning that the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) claimed that 6,360,000 animals were sacrificed on Eid ul Adha in 2023, noting a 28% to 30% reduction in the number of animals sacrificed.
