Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially ended their marriage after two years. On Tuesday, August 20, Lopez filed for divorce, confirming fans’ speculations about their relationship’s status.
Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Lopez, 55, filed the divorce papers on the two-year anniversary of their elaborate wedding in Georgia. The couple had first eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022. Notably, Lopez filed without an attorney, and the documents do not mention a prenuptial agreement. Insiders believe there wasn’t one in place. Lopez also waived any claims to spousal support and asked that Affleck, 52, do the same.
Speculation about their split began in May 2024, when reports surfaced that the couple had started attending couples therapy. Fans noticed further signs, such as the couple not being seen together for over a month and frequently removing their wedding rings.
As time passed, the separation seemed more likely. The couple spent their second elopement anniversary on opposite coasts in July and celebrated their birthdays separately.
This marks the second breakup for Lopez and Affleck, who had previously called off their engagement in the early 2000s.
