Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Arrives in Lahore on Two-Day Visit to Pakistan

Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian has commenced a two-day state visit to Pakistan, arriving in Lahore earlier today, August 2, 2025. Upon his arrival, President Pezeshkian was warmly received by PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. During his brief stay in the historic city of Lahore, the Iranian President is scheduled to pay homage at the mausoleum of renowned poet and philosopher Allama Iqbal, a gesture symbolizing the deep cultural ties between the two nations.

Following his engagements in Lahore, Dr. Pezeshkian will depart for Islamabad to continue the official leg of his visit. His trip to Pakistan comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and he is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, along with other senior ministers and high-ranking officials, underscoring the significance of this diplomatic engagement.

In Islamabad, President Pezeshkian is slated to hold crucial meetings with President Zardari, the Chairman Senate, and the Speaker of the National Assembly. A key component of his visit will be delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Foreign Office has stated that the primary objectives of this visit are to further promote and strengthen the political, economic, and cultural relations between Pakistan and Iran. This marks Dr. Pezeshkian’s inaugural official visit to Pakistan as President of Iran and follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Iran on May 26, 2025, with both sides anticipating that these exchanges will significantly bolster the existing fraternal bonds between the two countries.

The visit also comes on the heels of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s recent meeting with President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran, where Minister Naqvi conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s goodwill message and extended congratulations to the Iranian nation on what he termed a “historic victory against Zionist aggression,” reaffirming Islamabad’s swift condemnation of Israel’s actions and its support for Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense.
