ISLAMABAD: A detailed medical report regarding the eye condition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has surfaced, outlining the findings of a medical board examination conducted on February 15, 2026.
According to the report obtained by ARY News, a medical board examined Imran Khan during a visit to Adiala Jail. Later the same evening, between 9:00pm and 10:20pm, the board briefed PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Raja Nasir Abbas at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
Imran Khan’s personal physicians, Dr. Asim Yusuf and Dr. Khurram Mirza, were also briefed via phone for over 25 minutes. Both party leaders and doctors reportedly expressed satisfaction with the treatment plan and showed confidence in the ongoing medical management.
The medical report was compiled by Prof Nadeem Qureshi, Head of Retina at Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital, and signed by Professor Arif Khan, Head of Ophthalmology at PIMS.
Medical Findings
The examination noted that Imran Khan’s unaided visual acuity was recorded at 6/24 (partial) in the right eye and 6/9 in the left eye. With corrective lenses, vision improved to 6/9 in the right eye and 6/6 in the left.
A slit-lamp examination revealed clear anterior segments and corneas in both eyes. The vitreous was reported clear, with mild haze and minor internal spots observed.
Doctors observed redness and dilated blood vessels in the right eye, along with four to five cotton-wool spots. However, swelling in the affected eye has started to subside, and vision has improved significantly from 6/36 to 6/9 (partial), which was described as an encouraging sign. The left eye’s vision remains normal.
Treatment Plan
The report recommends the continued use of prescribed eye drops, including Nevanac, Cosopt and Systane Ultra, alongside ongoing treatment. A second anti-VEGF injection may be administered if required.
Doctors have also advised further advanced diagnostic tests, including OCT angiography, upon completion of the current therapy.
Government’s Statement
Earlier, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar stated that Imran Khan’s vision in one eye is approximately 70 percent with eyeglasses, while the other eye maintains healthy 6/6 vision.
“There is nothing to worry about,” Tarar said, adding that the medical team has briefed opposition leaders and the PTI founder’s personal doctors regarding his health condition.
The medical update comes amid ongoing political developments, with party officials maintaining that the former prime minister is receiving appropriate medical care.
