Hotelier Booked After Two Girls Die in Lahore Toxic Food Case

Two Girls Die in Lahore Toxic Food Case

LAHORE – A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the provincial capital after two minor girls lost their lives allegedly due to consuming toxic food from a Rolling Palace restaurant on PIA Road, sparking outrage and raising concerns about food safety standards. Police have officially booked the hotel owner in what is now being referred to as the Lahore toxic food case.

According to the complaint filed by the father, Azeem Ahmad, his daughters Tehreem (6) and Irha (4) had gone to the hotel two days ago. The staff reportedly served them food that turned out to be contaminated. Shortly after returning home, the condition of both children deteriorated rapidly. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and admitted to critical care.

Despite doctors’ efforts, both girls tragically passed away. Their father alleged that the cause of death was the adulterated food served at the restaurant, holding the hotel management responsible. Following the complaint, the Sattokatla police registered an FIR and launched further investigation into the case.

Authorities are now collecting samples for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause of the food contamination. Police have also sealed the restaurant pending inquiry, while the hotel owner faces charges under food safety and criminal negligence laws.

The incident has once again highlighted serious gaps in food safety enforcement across Lahore. Over the past year, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has frequently sealed outlets for unhygienic practices, but this tragedy underscores the urgent need for stricter monitoring and compliance measures.

In a separate development, the Crime Control Department (CCD) reported an armed encounter in Lahore’s Nishtar Colony. Two suspects, Naveed and Salman, both alleged hardened criminals, were killed during a clash when their accomplices opened fire on police near Ashiana Road. Authorities claim the suspects died by the firing of their own group during the shootout. A police constable also sustained bullet injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment. FIRs have been registered, and raids are underway to arrest the attackers.

The Lahore toxic food case has shocked residents, with many demanding justice for the grieving family and stricter checks on restaurants to prevent such incidents in the future. Officials say further legal action will be taken once forensic reports confirm the food samples’ toxicity.
