Police said the suspects were allegedly involved in harassing female students in the area. The arrests were made under the direct instructions of District Police Officer (DPO) Kamran Hameed, who ordered immediate and effective action against those responsible.

DPO Kamran Hameed stated that Hafizabad Police are fully committed to ensuring the safety and protection of women and female students. He added that strict and indiscriminate action would continue against all individuals involved in harassment cases, and the arrested suspects would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The Hafizabad harassment case comes amid growing concerns over incidents of harassment across educational institutions. Earlier, students at Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam lodged complaints against an associate professor, accusing him of harassment, prompting the university administration to initiate an internal inquiry.
According to reports, 49 male and female students from the Crop Protection Faculty’s 2024 batch submitted written complaints against Associate Professor Shoukat Abro. The university’s Harassment Committee took notice of the allegations and launched a formal investigation.
The committee has summoned three female students to record their statements, while the accused professor has also been asked to present his response. Committee chairman Ijaz Khoonharo described the allegations as serious and assured that the inquiry would proceed strictly under university regulations.
Authorities have stressed that complaints related to harassment will be handled with urgency and transparency, as law enforcement agencies and institutions intensify efforts to protect students and uphold accountability.
