Former army chief and current Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), General (retd) Raheel Sharif, has been honored with a lifetime achievement award. The award ceremony took place with Government College University Lahore Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi presenting the accolade to General Sharif. During the event, General Sharif shared valuable insights with students, emphasizing the significance of three fundamental principles in life: Character, Courage, and Competence.

The event underscored General Sharif’s pivotal role in eliminating terrorism from Pakistan and his leadership as the inaugural military commander of the IMCTC, which represents 42 nations united in the pursuit of global peace and security.

Serving as Pakistan’s 9th chief of army staff (COAS) from 2013 to 2016, General Sharif played a crucial role in combating terrorism through significant anti-terrorism campaigns conducted across the country. A notable triumph was the Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan, which effectively dismantled Taliban strongholds in the region, consequently stabilizing the entire nation.

Retiring from his role as the COAS, General Sharif was appointed to lead the multinational alliance IMCTC upon its establishment in 2017. To this day, he remains at the helm of the organization, which aims to enhance global security and thwart terrorism on an international scale.
