Field Marshal Asim Munir Reaffirms Time-Tested Pak-China Friendship Amid Global Challenges
In a strong display of diplomatic and military camaraderie, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has underscored the enduring nature of Pak-China friendship, declaring it “time-tested and exceptionally resilient” during evolving global dynamics. The statement was made during a ceremony at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to mark the 98th founding anniversary of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
PLA’s 98th Anniversary Celebrated at GHQ
The event was attended by top military leadership from Pakistan and China, including Ambassador Jiang Zaidong of the People’s Republic of China and Major General Wang Zhong, Defence Attaché of China. High-ranking officers from all three services of Pakistan’s armed forces were also present.
Field Marshal Munir warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation and extended heartfelt congratulations on the 98th anniversary of the PLA, praising the Chinese military’s role in national defense, security, and nation-building efforts.
A Strategic Partnership Rooted in Trust
In his speech, the COAS emphasized the strategic depth and unique nature of the Pak-China relationship, describing the PLA and Pakistan Army as “true brothers-in-arms.” He stated that the alliance has played a pivotal role in regional peace, stability, and the safeguarding of shared strategic interests.
The COAS highlighted how both nations have stood together in times of crisis and change, maintaining mutual trust and a shared commitment to common goals despite shifting regional and international conditions.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, the event’s chief guest, expressed his gratitude to the Pakistan Army for commemorating the PLA’s anniversary. He praised Pakistan’s armed forces, particularly for their consistent efforts in combating terrorism, and reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for its long-standing strategic partnership with Pakistan.
The ambassador also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in regional diplomacy and appreciated its consistent stance on regional security, further cementing the strength of Pak-China relations.
