Field Marshal Asim Munir holds meetings with US leadership as part of his high-profile official visit to the United States, where he is engaging in a wide range of diplomatic and defence-related activities aimed at strengthening Pakistan–US relations. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Chief of Army Staff’s visit includes key interactions with senior American political figures, top military commanders, and members of the Pakistani diaspora living in the US.

During his trip, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended the retirement ceremony of outgoing United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Michael E. Kurilla in Tampa, Florida. He also witnessed the change of command ceremony where Admiral Brad Cooper assumed leadership of CENTCOM. In his remarks, the Field Marshal lauded General Kurilla’s exemplary leadership, acknowledging his role in deepening bilateral military cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. He extended his best wishes to Admiral Cooper, expressing confidence that the strong defence partnership would continue to address shared security challenges, including counter-terrorism, regional stability, and maritime security.

The visit also included a significant meeting with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, in which both leaders discussed matters of mutual professional interest, operational cooperation, and strategic challenges facing the region. Field Marshal Asim Munir extended a formal invitation to General Caine to visit Pakistan in the near future. On the sidelines of these official engagements, he interacted with Chiefs of Defence from several friendly countries, exchanging views on enhancing multilateral defence collaboration and promoting peace and stability.

In addition to official military and political engagements, the Field Marshal held an interactive session with the Pakistani diaspora in the United States. Speaking to a diverse group of overseas Pakistanis, he urged them to remain optimistic about Pakistan’s economic and political future, stressing that the country’s strategic location, human capital, and resilience offered immense opportunities for progress. He called on expatriates to actively contribute to attracting foreign investment and to play their part in strengthening Pakistan’s global image.

The diaspora members reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Pakistan’s development agenda, pledging to contribute through investment, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy. The Army Chief’s outreach to the overseas community underscored the military’s recognition of the diaspora’s vital role in the nation’s economic growth and diplomatic outreach.

This visit is widely seen as part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to maintain strong defence ties with the United States while enhancing military diplomacy with allies. Analysts note that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s engagements in Washington and Tampa signal Islamabad’s intent to deepen strategic cooperation with the US at a time of evolving regional and global security dynamics.
