ECP Reverses Decision on NA-128 Candidate’s Victory Notification

In a recent development, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reverse the notification announcing the victory of IPP candidate Aun Chaudhry in NA-128. This decision was revealed by the Director-General of Law at the ECP during a session with Chief Justice Aamir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The ECP official informed the court about the withdrawal of the victory notification for Aun Chaudhry.

The court, upon receiving this information, directed Salman Akram Raja’s legal representative to take their pending application to the ECP for further consideration. The ECP has assured that they will review Salman Akram Raja’s application before making any subsequent decisions regarding the matter.

During the court proceedings, the Director-General of Law at the ECP clarified that the withdrawal of the notification was prompted by an error made by the commission. This acknowledgment of the mistake led to the swift retraction of the victory notification.

The ECP’s decision to withdraw the notification underscores the commission’s commitment to upholding transparency and accuracy in electoral processes. It also highlights the importance of addressing any discrepancies or errors promptly to ensure the integrity of election outcomes.

As the legal proceedings unfold and the ECP revisits the matter in light of Salman Akram Raja’s application, stakeholders await further updates regarding the status of the NA-128 election results.
