Dubai’s renowned Rashid School for Boys (RSB) and Latifa School for Girls (LSG) are set to reopen in autumn 2024 following a comprehensive upgrade. Both schools, which have a rich history of educating Dubai’s elite, closed their doors in 2020 to make way for the renovations.
The Rashid and Latifa Schools Establishment (RLSE), which is responsible for operating both schools, will continue to offer segregated education for Foundation Stage 1 to Year 13 students of both genders.
Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, the Minister of Education UAE and Chairman of the Board of Trustees RLSE, stated that the initiative to upgrade the schools aligns with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed’s goal is to transform RSB and LSG into “incubators for future leadership.”
According to Dr. Falasi, the RLSE aims to achieve this vision by providing students with real-world challenges through project-based education and creating an environment that prepares them for the future. To further this objective, Emma Nolan, a prominent global educator, has been appointed as the Principal of RLS.
Under the restructuring plan, both schools will operate under a joint leadership and a new name, “RLS.” The aim is to bring together the strengths of both institutions to create a world-class education system that fosters leadership qualities in students.
The reopening of RSB and LSG is a significant development for the education sector in Dubai, as both schools have played a crucial role in shaping the city’s educational landscape. The institutions have a rich legacy of producing leaders and visionaries who have gone on to make significant contributions to the UAE and beyond.
The upgrade of RSB and LSG will enhance the schools’ reputation as world-class institutions, providing an unparalleled learning experience to the students. By offering innovative programs and adopting new teaching methodologies, RLS aims to create a dynamic learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

With the UAE’s continued focus on innovation and development, the reopening of RSB and LSG marks a crucial milestone in the country’s journey towards building a knowledge-based economy. The RLSE’s efforts to transform both schools into incubators for future leaders will undoubtedly contribute to this goal by nurturing a generation of innovative and visionary individuals.
