RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir reached China on Monday, said ISPR.
In a statement issued here, the military’s media wing said that the army chief arrived in the neighbouring country on four-day visit.
Bilateral military relations and other regional issues will come under the discussion during the visit of COAS, said ISPR.
During his visit to Gwadar last month, General Asim Munir was apprised of the security situation, operational readiness of formations, and efforts being made to ensure a peaceful and secure environment in the country, particularly for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also announced several development projects aimed at uplifting the region.
Interestingly, this visit came just days after a Chinese national was arrested on blasphemy charges in the Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Due to security concerns and the fear of local people harming him, he was sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand and was later shifted to Abbottabad via an Army helicopter.
