‘Everything Is Mashallah’: Cardi B Performs in Riyadh, Praises Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: American rap superstar Cardi B has praised Saudi Arabia after delivering a high-energy performance in Riyadh, describing the kingdom as “brand new” and saying that “everything is mashallah” in videos shared on social media.

Cardi B was among the headline performers at the MDLBEAST Soundstorm music festival, one of the Middle East’s largest music events, held in the Saudi capital. During her live performance early Sunday, the Grammy-winning artist surprised fans by greeting the audience with “Salam alaikum,” drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Following her performance, Cardi B posted a series of Instagram videos showcasing her experience in Saudi Arabia. In the clips, she expressed admiration for the country’s modern infrastructure, vibrant atmosphere and hospitality, repeatedly praising the overall environment and energy of Riyadh.

Her comments quickly went viral across Saudi social media platforms, with many fans welcoming her positive remarks and celebrating her engagement with local culture. Several users highlighted her use of Arabic greetings and Islamic expressions as a gesture of respect toward the audience.

Saudi Arabia has increasingly hosted global entertainment events in recent years as part of its Vision 2030 reforms, aimed at diversifying the economy and boosting tourism and foreign investment. International stars including Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Eminem and other major artists have also performed in the kingdom.

However, such events have not been without controversy. Earlier this year, the Riyadh Comedy Festival sparked debate in the United States, where some comedians faced criticism for performing in Saudi Arabia despite previously advocating for free speech causes.

Despite the debate, events like MDLBEAST Soundstorm continue to attract major global artists, positioning Saudi Arabia as a growing hub for international music and entertainment.
