Bangladesh allocates medical seats for Pakistani students
In a positive development for Pakistan’s medical aspirants, Bangladesh has allocated a number of medical seats for Pakistani students for the upcoming academic session, strengthening educational ties between the two countries.
According to official details, Bangladesh has allotted 21 MBBS seats and two BDS seats specifically for Pakistani students. Interested candidates have been advised to submit their applications through Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Students may apply either online or by post, as per the instructions issued by the relevant authorities. The deadline for submission of applications is December 21, 2025, and applicants have been urged to ensure timely submission to avoid disqualification.
Officials said that only eligible students meeting the prescribed academic and admission criteria will be considered for selection under the allocated quota.
The move comes at a time when Pakistan-Bangladesh relations have been showing signs of improvement, particularly following political changes in Dhaka after the ouster of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid.
In recent months, bilateral engagement between the two countries has increased across multiple sectors, including trade, aviation, and education. Earlier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) signed a landmark cargo interline special rate agreement with Bangladesh’s national carrier, Biman Airlines, aimed at enhancing trade connectivity and streamlining air cargo movement.
Under that agreement, major Saudi cities such as Jeddah, Madinah, and Riyadh were designated as transit hubs, creating a strategic regional trade corridor. The combined cargo networks of PIA and Biman Airlines are expected to offer exporters and importers more efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions.
Education experts believe that the allocation of medical seats for Pakistani students reflects growing cooperation between Islamabad and Dhaka and could pave the way for further academic and professional exchange programs in the future.
