A strong army is the guarantor of a country’s security, and unity: COAS

Rawalpindi: General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), emphasized the unwavering commitment of every soldier and officer in the armed forces to prioritize their duties and responsibilities, irrespective of regional, linguistic, or political biases. He delivered this message during a ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where martyrs and officials were honored. General Munir highlighted the crucial role of a strong army in safeguarding the nation’s security and unity.

The event saw the presentation of prestigious awards to deserving individuals. A total of 51 officials were recognized with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (military) award, while 22 officials received the Tamgha-i-Basalat. Additionally, two officials were honored with special United Nations medals. These accolades were bestowed upon them in acknowledgement of their acts of bravery during operations and their meritorious service to the country.

The ceremony witnessed the attendance of several senior army officials and the families of the martyrs who selflessly sacrificed their lives for Pakistan. General Munir expressed deep gratitude to the martyrs, emphasizing that their unwavering sense of duty and tremendous sacrifices have established a free and secure environment for the people of the country. He underscored that these sacrifices and the services rendered by officials are invaluable assets, filling the nation with pride.

General Munir further stressed the strong bond and familial connection within the Pakistan Army. He assured that the institution always remembers and honors every individual associated with the army and their families. This relationship is characterized by a profound sense of pride and serves as an exemplary model for others to emulate.

The COAS strongly condemned the recent attacks on military installations and monuments dedicated to martyrs, describing them as deeply saddening and unacceptable.

Furthermore, General Munir announced the establishment of “Pakistan Martyrs’ Day” on May 25th. This significant day will be dedicated to commemorating and honoring the sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives in service to the country.
