Peshawar: At least nine killed and several injured in different parts of the country after a strong earthquake hit parts of country including Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawaplindi, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
According to media reports, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 7.7 on the Richter scale. The epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindu Kash region with a depth of 180 kilometres. No loss of life or property has so far been reported.
Tremors were also felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Batgaram, Khyber, Mansehra, and other cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Punjab, the tremors were felt in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Muree, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Chakwal and other cities where people came out of their houses.
The authorities concerned in all affected cities are visiting the areas to inspect the buildings and facilitate the citizens.
The earthquake also felt in Pakistan’s neighbouring countries including Afghanistan and India.
