LAHORE: Former prime minister Imran Khan Monday said that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) wants to pit the Pakistan army against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In a video link address, the PTI chief said that a conspiracy is being hatched not only to arrest, but to kill him.
Referring to the chaos outside the Islamabad Judicial Complex where he was to appear before an additional and district sessions court for indictment in the Toshakhana case, the former prime minister said that he kept waiting for almost 40 minutes outside the complex.
“The moment I entered the judicial complex, some plainclothes men started beating our workers and later the police fired teargas shells on them,” he claimed. “One of my colleagues told me that their plan is to kill me and that I should return,” he maintained.
He went on to say that it took him over four hours to reach the judicial complex from the Islamabad Toll plaza on Motorway due to hurdles erected in the way by the authorities concerned.
He urged the judiciary to allow him to record statements in different cases through a video link. “I will answer all their questions.”
He claimed that the chaos was created just to kill him. “Who will be held responsible if I’m assassinated,” he questioned.
He said that the coalition government was trying to run away from elections, adding that his party will contact international human rights organization against the “oppression”.
The government, he said, had got registered around 100 cases against him, implying that they want to eliminate him from politics.
He slammed PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz for allegedly spreading anarchy and polarization in the country.
