Imran Khan announces ‘historic’ public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on Mar 19

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief on Monday announced a public gather at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday (March 19).

Addressing an election rally in the provincial capital, the former prime minister said that he would arrange a public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday at 2pm. He said that the Toshakhana record exposed the political elite of the country.

The PTI chairman said that he faced severe backlash from the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leadership over the Toshakhana gifts. Now they have exposed badly, he added.

Stressing upon the people to join the PTI movement, Imran Khan said that the nation would have to come out for their independence.

As per the official record of Toshakhana, PPP leader and former president Asif Ali Zardari retained various items including one BMW 760 Li and one Toyota Lexus LX 470 by submitting a total amount of Rs16.1m.

PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif retained one Rolex watch, one pair of cufflinks with a pen and four commemorative coins of the Central bank of Kuwait by submitting Rs0.243m in the Toshakhana record.

Many other leaders including PM Shehbaz Sharif, Pervez Musharraf, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Yousuf Raza Gilani, Sartaj Aziz, Ishaq Dar and others are included in the list of receiving Toshakhana gifts.

Imran Khan took out an election rally despite facing security and arrest threats. The interim Punjab government imposed Section 144 twice in the provincial capital.

The PTI chairman took out an election rally from his Zaman Park residence to Data Darbar where he addressed the PTI workers from his vehicle.

Earlier, Islamabad courts issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Imran for his non-appearance in the judge threat case.
