Islamabad court suspends Imran Khan’s arrest warrants in judge threat case

ISLAMABAD:  An Islamabad court on Tuesday suspended non-bailable arrest warrants issued for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in a case regarding issuing threats to a female judge.

A district and sessions court suspended the non-bailable arrest warrants.

During the today’s hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyers Naeem Panjotha and Intizar Panjotha appeared before the court.

Intizar stated that all the sections invoked against the former prime minister were bailable offences to which the judge asked if non-bailable arrest warrants had been issued for Imran earlier as well.

The court asked the ousted prime minister’s lawyer to attach the documents submitted along with the petition.

Intizar said Imran was the former prime minister and it was the government’s responsibility to provide him the security.

Judge Rana Mujahid Rahim on Monday issued arrest warrants for Imran while hearing a case registered against the former prime minister for issuing threatening language against Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

Later, the PTI moved court against the arrest warrants in the district court.
