12 Police Officers Martyred in Kacha Bandits’ Attack in Rahim Yar Khan

On Friday, a devastating attack by bandits from the Kacha region resulted in the martyrdom of 12 police officers and left five others injured in the Rahim Yar Khan area.

The attack took place when bandits, armed with rocket launchers, targeted police vehicles that were changing shifts at Machka Camp 2. The police had set up this camp to monitor the activities of bandits in the Kacha region. However, around 25 heavily armed bandits launched a brutal assault on the camp.

The rocket attack destroyed police vehicles, instantly killing 11 officers and injuring five others. Tragically, one of the injured officers died while being transferred to the hospital, and three others remain in critical condition.

A police spokesperson reported that five officers are currently missing, and a search and rescue operation is underway to locate them.

In response to the attack, a large police force from across the district, led by District Police Officer Imran, was deployed to the scene. Ambulances were also dispatched, and the Sindh police were called upon for assistance in the Kacha region.

President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the attack and expressed his condolences to the families of the martyred officers. The President also paid tribute to the fallen officers and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the officers. He directed that the injured officers receive the best medical care and called for immediate action to identify and punish the attackers.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the attack and instructed the Secretary of Home Affairs and the Inspector General (IG) of Police to visit the scene immediately. She directed Secretary Home Noor Amin Mengal to lead the operation against the attackers and ordered additional efforts to recover the missing officers.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori also condemned the attack and extended his condolences to the families of the martyred officers. He praised the police for their efforts in rescuing their colleagues and called for strict action against the bandits involved.
