Yamaha shuts down motorcycle manufacturing in Pakistan
KARACHI: Yamaha Motor Pakistan has officially announced the closure of its motorcycle manufacturing operations in the country, marking a major exit from Pakistan’s auto industry.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the company said the decision to end local production was driven by a shift in its global business policy. “Due to a change in our business policy, we would like to inform you that we will discontinue manufacturing of motorcycles. We sincerely appreciate your long-standing support and loyalty,” the notification read.
While manufacturing has stopped, Yamaha Motor confirmed that it will continue to supply spare parts through authorised dealers to ensure that existing customers do not face difficulties. The company also pledged to uphold all warranty commitments and provide customer support in line with its current service policies.
“We will continue to do our utmost to support your motorcycle experience, and we are committed to serving you sincerely until the very end,” Yamaha said, thanking customers for their trust and loyalty.
The announcement comes as Pakistan’s auto sector faces challenges from reduced demand, rising inflation, and high import costs that have already forced several international automakers to scale back operations.
