Skardu’s beautiful attractions are just a flight away from UAE
The Pakistani government is making efforts to boost tourism in the country, and one such initiative is to introduce direct flights between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Skardu. According to Aun Chaudhry, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Tourism and Sports, the federal government is in talks with the UAE to start direct flights to Skardu, a city in the northern territories of Pakistan.
Chaudhry announced this while attending the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2023 in Dubai. He believes that introducing direct flights between the UAE and Skardu would attract tourists and boost tourism in the region. Skardu is home to a number of scenic spots, including Deosai National Park, Upper Kachura Lake, Manthokha waterfall, Satpara Lake, Sheosar Lake, Katpana desert, and other attractions. These spots are known for their natural beauty and are economical in terms of stay and food.
Pakistan has great potential to grow its tourism industry, and the government is taking several steps to promote the sector. The Prime Minister has instructed his advisor to make significant efforts, collaborating with the corporate sector, to enhance tourism in the nation.
Chaudhry believes that the government should make it easier for visitors to visit places like Skardu to attract more tourists to Pakistan. Chaudhry was part of a 25-member delegation that attended the ATM 2023 in Dubai.
At the event, the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) collaborated with other organizations, including the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Pearl Continental Hotels, Hashoo Group, and others, to set up a pavilion. During the event, Chaudhry commended the assistance provided by the Pakistan Embassy in the UAE and TDAP to Pakistani exhibitors.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, described Pakistan’s return to the ATM as a significant step forward that will encourage tourism in the nation and improve its soft image globally. The ambassador’s comments were made in reference to the fact that Pakistan has been absent from the ATM for the past five years.
The introduction of direct flights between the UAE and Skardu would provide an opportunity for Emiratis to spend their vacations in Pakistan. Currently, residents of the UAE tend to travel to Schengen countries for vacations due to pleasant weather, ease of visa, and flight accessibility. Skardu can present itself as another option for Emiratis as it offers several scenic spots and is economical in terms of stay and food.
In recent years, the Pakistani government has made significant efforts to promote tourism in the country. The government has been focusing on improving infrastructure, promoting the country’s cultural heritage, and providing better security to tourists. Pakistan has also introduced an e-visa facility to make it easier for tourists to obtain visas.
The country is known for its diverse landscape, including the Himalayas, deserts, and beaches. Pakistan is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the ancient city of Mohenjo-Daro and the ruins of Taxila. The country is also famous for its hospitality and food.
