Tom Cruise Steals the Show at Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise made a dramatic entrance at the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday night. The Mission: Impossible actor wowed the crowd by abseiling down from the roof, dressed in a leather jacket and gloves.

As Cruise descended into the stadium, spectators cheered with excitement. At the same time, American singer H.E.R. performed on guitar, adding to the electrifying atmosphere. The event also marked the official handover of the Olympics to Los Angeles, which will host the Games in 2028. Once Cruise landed in the stadium, he was immediately surrounded by enthusiastic athletes. He had rappelled about 50 meters (164 feet) to reach the ground, grinning as the crowd surged toward him.

In a pre-recorded video, Cruise was seen traveling through Paris and then heading to the United States, where he made his way to the iconic Hollywood sign and unfurled the Olympic flag. This marked a farewell from Paris as the host city.

After landing, Cruise took the Olympic flag from American gymnast Simone Biles, one of the stars of the Paris Games. The crowd then watched in awe as he zipped away on a motorbike. The pre-recorded video of Cruise’s journey to Los Angeles was accompanied by music from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who later gave a live performance of their hit song “Can’t Stop” on a beach in Los Angeles. Other musical acts during the ceremony included performances by Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre.

Cruise, who is also famous for his role in Top Gun, is known for performing his own stunts. Over the years, he has completed numerous daring feats, such as scaling the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and hanging onto the side of a plane as it took off, both for the Mission: Impossible movie series.

Cruise’s participation in the closing ceremony was one of Paris’s worst-kept secrets, with rumors circulating in the media days before the event. The 62-year-old actor had been spotted several times in Paris during the Games, cheering on the U.S. team in the swimming relay and watching Simone Biles compete, where she won multiple medals.
