Supreme Court refutes reports about altercation between judges

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court issued a notice on Friday refuting an untrue news report about a supposed scuffle and argument among judges during their evening walk in the Judges’ Colony Park on April 13, 2023. The notice did not name any specific report, but noted that the fake news was propagated on social media platforms.

The court strongly repudiated the report, calling it false, mischievous, and malicious, and warned that such reporting is a severe violation of the law and an attempt to tarnish the court’s image and its members’ dignity.

Recently, a series of letters and a judicial note written by Justice Qazi Faez Isa had added to the impression of division and bitterness among the apex court judges. However, on Tuesday, a meeting between Justice Isa and Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial was held to discuss ways to enhance the judiciary’s image and restore the trust of the public.
