The Sindh government has recently made a notable announcement regarding an increment in the salaries of its employees. The provincial government has taken the decision to increase the salaries by up to 35 percent, bringing much-needed relief to its workforce. In addition, the minimum wage has been raised to Rs33,750, and the stakeholders have been urged to provide their cooperation in this regard.
This salary increment is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the employees, particularly those in lower grades. With the latest increase of 35 percent, employees ranging from grades 1 to 16 will now be taking home Rs35,500 instead of the previous Rs25,000.
During the budget announcement for the fiscal year 2023-24 in the Sindh Assembly, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his commitment to enhancing the financial well-being of the employees. He stated, “We are increasing the salaries of our employees.” The proposal included a 35 percent increase for employees in grades 1 to 16, along with a 30 percent raise for employees in grades 17 and above. Additionally, a 17.5 percent increase in pensions was suggested.
Chief Minister Shah further highlighted that the salaries of provincial government employees have witnessed a remarkable growth of 188 percent over the last five years. Despite the reluctance of the federal government, the Sindh government increased the salaries of provincial employees from Rs17,500 to Rs25,000 last year.
This move by the Sindh government comes in line with the federal government’s decision to increase the salaries of federal government employees. The federal cabinet has also approved a similar salary increment, with an increase of 30 to 35 percent for government employees. The raise will be applicable to employees in grades 1 to 16, while those in grades 17 to 22 will receive a 30 percent hike.
The announcement of the salary increment in Sindh reflects the government’s commitment to improving the financial situation of its employees and addressing their needs. It aims to provide relief and enhance the standard of living for government workers across the province.
In addition to the salary increment, the provincial budget for the upcoming fiscal year focuses on various developmental initiatives. With a budget of Rs2.2 trillion and a development outlay of Rs700.1 billion, the government aims to protect vulnerable populations and provide assistance to flood victims within the province.
The salary increment proposed by the Sindh government is an important step toward recognizing the contributions and efforts of its employees. It will not only alleviate the financial burden on individuals but also contribute to improving their overall job satisfaction and motivation.

This coordinated effort between the provincial and federal governments is expected to have a positive ripple effect on employees throughout the country.
As the new fiscal year approaches, government employees in Sindh can anticipate a brighter financial future. The proposed salary increment, along with the other relief measures, will provide them with stability and a better quality of life. It is a testament to the government’s dedication to the well-being of its employees and a step toward building a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.
