In Karachi, the provincial government of Sindh in Pakistan has declared 1st May a public holiday to mark Labour Day. The announcement was made on Thursday, with a notification issued by the Sindh chief secretary to confirm that all government offices, as well as autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, will be closed on May 1st, which falls on a Monday.
The notification stated that the holiday would apply to “all offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of Government of Sindh, except essential services.” This move is aimed at honouring the rights of the working class and expressing solidarity with labourers around the world.

Labour Day, also known as May Day, is celebrated annually on 1st May by countries across the globe.
