Pakistani cricket star Shahid Khan Afridi found himself in trouble when a pro-Israel Instagram account claimed he backed a “Friends of Israel” event in the UK on Wednesday. After the Instagram account posted Afridi’s photo as support for the event in Manchester, Afridi responded on his handle.
He said it’s shocking that fans in Manchester asked for a photo, and later it was wrongly used to show his support for Zionism. Afridi clarified that the photo doesn’t mean he supports any situation where human lives are at risk.
He expressed sadness over innocent lives suffering in Palestine. He said taking photos with fans worldwide is routine for him. The “NW Friends of Israel” Instagram account shared Afridi’s photo with two officials, saying he supported their call to release hostages at their vigil in Manchester.
