Security Disinfects Kim Jong Un’s Chair During Meeting with Putin

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s security team spent quite a bit of time cleaning the chair he used during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Kommersant newspaper.

A video showed a North Korean security officer, wearing white gloves, wiping down Kim’s black chair and spraying some unknown substance. This thorough cleaning also extended to the chair’s hands, legs, and the area around it, all while a Kremlin bodyguard watched.

Another North Korean official is seen on the footage giving the security guard who is cleaning some kind of order. The nature of the command, however, was unknown.

Kommersant quoted Kremlin correspondent Andrei Kolesnikov, who said, “The chair turned out to be the subject of the greatest concern for the North Korean side.”

Kim Jong Un’s security team consisted of more than 100 people, and they were not pleased with the first chair provided. As a result, the Russians provided another identical chair. Then, a North Korean employee wiped down the chair Kim would use for several minutes, all while wearing white gloves. It seemed they were disinfecting it due to some concerns.

During the summit, Putin and Kim Jong Un talked about military issues, the conflict in Ukraine, and possible Russian support for North Korea’s satellite program. Kim Jong Un expressed confidence that Russia would succeed in what Moscow refers to as its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

He said, “I am deeply convinced that the heroic Russian army and people will brilliantly carry on the tradition of victory, confidently displaying invaluable dignity and honor on the fronts of the special military operation.”
