KARACHI: In light of the upcoming Eidul Fitr, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has declared a five-day holiday from April 21 to April 25, 2023.
The decision of the SBP aligns with the announcement made by the federal government last week, approving a five-day holiday. According to Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the Secretary General of Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, Eid is expected to be celebrated on April 22 after completing 30 days of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will also remain closed from April 21 to 25.
The bank will remain closed from April 21 to 25, according to a notification released by the central bank. The Pakistani government has also approved a five-day holiday to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, but reports suggest that it may extend it to six days. However, the decision to extend the holidays will ultimately depend on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) is set to convene on Thursday, April 20, to sight the moon and determine the official date of Eidul Fitr.
