Saad Rizvi Booked in Terrorism Cases Across Punjab

RAWALPINDI: The Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Hafiz Saad Rizvi has been booked under terrorism charges along with several party workers in multiple police stations across Rawat, Taxila, and Muridke, following violent clashes with law enforcement authorities.

According to reports, First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against Rizvi and senior TLP members on charges of terrorism, attempted murder, robbery, and incitement to violence.

Police said violent protesters opened fire on officers during demonstrations, resulting in the death of SHO Inspector Shahzad Jhumat and injuries to several others. The clashes also led to the destruction of public property and disruption of traffic on key routes.

In Rawat, the FIR names Saad Rizvi and 21 other TLP leaders and workers, along with 35 unidentified individuals, accused of attacking police with firearms, petrol bombs, and spiked sticks. The report states that the demonstrators snatched 150 tear gas shells, tore officers’ uniforms, and damaged police vehicles during the chaos.

Police recovered ten spiked sticks, four petrol bombs, TLP flags, stones, and spent bullet shells from the site of the confrontation.

In Muridke, another case was filed at the City Police Station under 33 legal sections, including terrorism, following the killing of Inspector Jhumat and injuries to several police officers.

Authorities have intensified operations to arrest the named suspects, while additional forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to prevent further unrest.
