Punjab issues notification of revised school timings effective January 19
LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has issued an official notification announcing revised school timings for all government schools across the province, effective from Monday, January 19, 2026.
According to the notification, the revised schedule will remain in force until April 15, 2026, and has been introduced in response to severe cold weather and prolonged fog that have disrupted routine educational activities across Punjab.
Under the new timings, single-shift schools will operate from 10:00 am to 2:15 pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays classes will conclude earlier at 12:30 pm.
For double-shift schools, the morning shift will continue until 2:00 pm, followed by the afternoon shift from 2:15 pm to 4:45 pm.
The notification further stated that teachers will be required to attend schools on alternate Saturdays. These days will be utilised for curriculum planning, training sessions, and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities aimed at improving teaching quality and academic standards.
Education officials said the revised timings are intended to ensure a safer and more effective learning environment for students during harsh winter conditions, while also providing teachers with structured opportunities to enhance their professional skills.
The department urged school administrations, teachers, students, and parents to strictly follow the revised timetable to avoid any inconvenience.
Earlier, the Punjab School Education Department had also announced a one-week extension of winter vacations due to ongoing weather conditions.
