LAHORE: The protests have started taking place in different parts of the country after arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

The latest reports suggest that the PTI workers and supporters have started getting united at different cities including Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Peshawar.  The public and private traffic stopped soon as the news flashed about arrest of Imran Khan in Islamabad.

The authorities imposed Section 144 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi amid the situation, and banned gathering of the people in the twin cities.

The footages shared by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) showed that the PTI workers blocked Sharah-e-Faisal in Karachi. They are seen holding the party flags and chanting slogans in the favour of their beloved leader. The protesters also demanded immediate release of Imran Khan.

The people also started taking to the streets in Lahore, especially the youths to express solidarity with their leader Imran Khan. They were holding flags and clubs in their hands , and were chanting slogans in the favour of the PTI chief.

The commuters are suffering as the public and private traffic started disappearing from the roads in Lahore.  “I saw people are leaving the market places and leaving to their homes because I realize they feared of the violence and protests in the city,” said a citizen while talking to Mega News. The people, he said, started leaving the market places.

The development took place after Pakistan Rangers arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) when he was there for biometric before his appearance before the court.

The PTI leaders also gave countrywide protest call against the arrest of their party chairman and asked the people to take to the streets to express solidarity with him at this time.

Taking to Twitter, Shireen Mazari wrote, “What laws? Courts attacked by Rangers as if invading an occupied land – lawyers & IHC staff also beaten. This is Pakistan today – a fascist State where High Court has been attacked by paramilitary force,”.

Sheikh Rashid said that arrest of the PTI chief would be the big mistake of the incumbent government. He said that Imran Khan would emerge as victorious and hero of this nation.

“The arrest of Imran Khan is fascism, cruelty, terrorism and hooliganism, which is being shown in the whole world by beating Imran Khan. This is an incompetent failure of the government,” he tweeted.

He went on to say that, “ NAB’s decision to issue arrest warrants for Imran Khan on May 1—the holiday-is so embarrassing for the government as the whole “baraat” sitting in London is eagerly seeing all this from there,”.

Sheikh Rashid feared that Imran Khan could be subjected to slow poisoning in the jail because these leaders of PDM failed to compete with him. He termed the government’s decision about arrest Imran Khan “fascism”.
