PTI supporters celebrate SC verdict to release Imran Khan

PTI supporters celebrate the Supreme Court’s decision to release Imran Khan.

LAHORE: The release of Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), following the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case, brought elation to his supporters who took to the streets in celebration. On Thursday, the apex court declared the arrest of the former prime minister “illegal” and ordered his immediate release. PTI supporters and party workers rejoiced in the court’s decision, expressing solidarity and gratitude.

Usman Dar PTI, the ex-special assistant to the prime minister on youth affairs, called on party supporters across Pakistan to come out and express their joy. PTI leader Imran Ismail also expressed his happiness on the popular microblogging site Twitter, writing “Imran Khan released by Supreme Court. Pakistan zindabad.”

Pakistani actress Mishi Khan expressed her gratitude to the top court and Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, thanking them for their “fair and right verdict”.

Taking to Twitter, Jemima Goldsmith, former wife of Imran Khan, also celebrated the SC’s decision by saying, “Finally sense has prevailed.”
