PTI Leader Hammad Azhar Emerges from Hiding, Plans to Lead in Punjab

Hammad Azhar, a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, appeared publicly on Wednesday after months of hiding. He declared his intention to take on a leadership role within the party in Punjab.

Azhar was seen at the PTI Central Secretariat in Islamabad, stating that he had received instructions from PTI Founder Imran Khan to step forward and assume a leadership position.

Expressing trust in the judicial system, Azhar mentioned his plans to address legal matters in Punjab’s courts after securing bail from the Peshawar High Court.

In a direct plea to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Azhar called for action against what he described as a “fascist system” before the Chief Justice’s retirement, suggesting it would solidify the Chief Justice’s legacy.

Azhar also condemned the recent attack on PTI’s Raoof Hasan, revealing that party leadership had encouraged him to end his period of concealment and actively engage in politics.

Police reportedly arrived at the secretariat to arrest Azhar, but he had already left for Peshawar before their arrival. Staff at the secretariat claimed to have no knowledge of Azhar’s whereabouts.

The sudden police action was prompted by Azhar’s unexpected appearance at the secretariat, which was televised.
