A professor named Ajmal Sawand was shot dead due to a tribal dispute in Kandhkot, Sindh.
Sawand, who was an Assistant Director at the Institute of Business Administration Sukkur and held a doctorate degree, was ambushed by a rival armed group from the Sundrani community while traveling to his ancestral village Shalu Khan.
He passed away without receiving any medical assistance.
Investigations revealed that the deceased had visited the area to tend to some work regarding his ancestral land in the Katcha area of Kandhkot. He had visited the area after the killing of a rival tribesman, and the attack on him was in retaliation.
The police have taken notice of the incident and have pledged to capture the perpetrators. The assailants filmed the incident and celebrated by firing guns into the air, causing widespread outrage among social media users, activists, and journalists who condemned such tribal conflicts.
Ajmal Sawand was a distinguished academic who had completed his doctorate in Computer Science in France and was serving as a Deputy Director at Sukkur IBA University.
